Computers + Internet Access

Dragonfly comes complete with 2 computers and has several ways of connecting to the Internet at high speed.

Wireless Broadband- The boat comes fitted with an external 8Dbi directional wifi antenna, this allows the boat to connect to wifi hotspots or open wireless networks with similar antenna at a range of up to 800 meters. Many marinas and boat clubs and pubs have installed wifi hotspots along the waterways system often offering free internet usage.

Satellite Broadband -Using the boats tracking satellite system it is possible to use one way satellite broadband, this gives very high download bandwidth capability of upto 4-8Mbps. The up-going signal can be from GPRS, 3G or wireless broadband dependant on which proxy you wish to use. This gives the boat a broadband connection anywhere in Northern Europe so long as it has a satellite signal and mobile comms signal.

3G/GPRS - Using Mobile comms also can provide the boat with an internet signal when the satellite is obstructed by trees or no wireless signal is availble.

The primary computer is located in the lounge and acts as an office and home entertainment hub. It can store music and video, play DVDs or games with 5.1 digital audio output from the surround sound speakers. The custom PC is built in to the cabinetry and has temperature sensors to control the cabinetry cooling fan.
